Day 48. Broome

Tom took the car into be serviced this morning so we were carless for a bit. We walked to the town beach and had a look at the Pioneer’s Cemetery and the old jetty.

Next on the agenda was the Museum, which was very good. I especially liked the mini documentary about the switchboard girls at the Broome Exchange. They had many funny stories about them turning up to work in their bathers, doing their hair while working and knowing all the gossip in town. Sam and Patrick loved the worksheets that they were given. Ben did for a while but then decided it was too much like hard work.

We got the car back and went to visit the Japanese and Chinese Cemeteries on the way to Cable Beach where we spent the afternoon. Another classic Cable Beach sunset… more photos. While taking these photos Tom slashed his leg just above his ankle. He returned to me with blood dripping down his leg and a yet another memory card full of photos. Almost three weeks later as I write this, his wound has almost healed.

We then headed out to dinner at La Aarli another ripper of a restaurant. Tom, Sam and I shared the tapas menu; Ben had a burger and Patrick a pizza.

We are all crowded around the computer reliving everything. The kids couldn’t believe the muddy Cape Leveque road. We don’t ever tire of your sunset pics. How are you ever going to cull down to a slide show that’s not 3 hours long!!!!!
